Got gifted skins by a friend but cannot use them. [CLIENT]

I got gifted 2 skins yesterday. I received the Congratulations notifications and clicked the "Awesome!" button. I tried selecting one of those skins in champ select but it wouldn't let me. My client then showed the "Unexpected error" message so I tried restarting the client but it still would not allow me to play the skins. I decided to wait till next day (today) thinking that would solve the problem but the issue still persists. Has this happened to you guys?
