Black Screen at Champion Select

This is my first time posting on these forums, but a lot of the issues with the new client have been pretty manageable. (client freezes after somebody drops at champ select for about 30 seconds, overall laggy client when going through tabs/friends list) But the worst issue that I've just recently been getting is a black screen when I get into champ select (made even more frustrating since it's in ranked). The new client is very good looking, but good lord is it terrible in how it performs. My computer runs an i7 7700k and it runs all games at ultra high with no frame drop issues so I don't think it's a personal PC problem. Something about the new client isn't optimized. I don't see what the reason was for change.

I haven't scoured the forums much but has riot been vocal about the issues?
