Champion Select Lag

So, I was sitting in normal draft dynamic queue, just waiting for my turning to pick. We were going through bans and the 5th ban was our 5th member. He selected Kog'Maw and the timer reached 0. But, nothing happened. I assumed it was just input lag so I waited 30 seconds. Nothing. I sat there for another 5 minutes until the chat said all my teammates had dc'ed. Then it skipped all the way to the enemy team's 3rd pick skipping me completely, it kicked me back into lobby and I had a 15-minute queue. Riot, can somebody explain this, because I haven't been lagging all day and this happened out of the blue.
