Champion select timeout/error

During Champion select, when I have first pick and thus the privelage of banning and select a first ban, constantly my game client greys over and has a little loading symbol in the centre. I am unable to select any option on the screen, however the time countdown and new chat messages from my team remain visible until either I Alt-F4 out of the game client or (as I found out the hard way) let the game load to selection the champion stage and fail to select anything and then get match time delays for wasting peoples time through no fault of my own.

1. Load game.
2. Select any PVP Game with bans, Ranked/Blackmarkets.
3. Get first pick and bans.
4. Select a ban. Fault occurs.
