Will not load champ select

When I attempted to queue into a game, after I accepted the queue, I got a black screen saying "attempting to connect to server" until I missed my champion select point (I assume, since I couldn't see anything) at which point I was credited with failing to select a champion, and sent back to the home screen of the client.
