Stuck in honor 1 in season 7 for 3 months. Why can't I get a higher honor in S8???????????

I was stuck in honor 1 for so long without me flaming. So I gave up and gave in to my anger in season 8.2 and started flaming my team. How the **** does the honor system work. Doesn't make sense at all.
