Failed to connect

So I've been living at my uni this year and the whole time I virtually had internet problems. I went home for two weeks and now that I'm back getting into games has been horrible if I can even get in. Everytime I try to launch the game it gives me a failed to connect error saying to reset the network and retry. To get into game I would unplug the eithernet cable and that seemed to work last night (after about 5 minutes of trying) and I just was able to get into a bot game but now it's refusing to get me into game.
