Don't use the new client

So in series from silver to gold, win first 2 games. Q up for my 3rd and once I get into champ select, it's just a black screen. I hear the music, the people banning and picking champs. Eventually I get kicked from it and it's treated as a Q dodge. I restart the client and get back into the Q. After I accept it, again the same thing, just an all black screen with the sounds. I think it's perhaps my computer, so I restart it. Log back into League, get back into Q. Accept. And surprise, an all black screen. Perfect chance to move out of Silver, ruined by things outside of my control.

TLDR: Don't use the new client, it could quit on you at any time wasting whatever progress you've made.

Same thing happened to me, but it was on the old client crashing

I've lost at least 9 LP and ended up reaching like 99 LP or 98LP like 4 times now because of the 3LP I lose everytime the client bugs out and won't let me pick, won't let me ban, or goes black, so annoying. But no, rather then fixing it they plan on forcing everyone to use it in the near future.

I like how instead of the little (!) issue notifier thing saying "Hey there's a game-breaking bug on the latest patch for the new client that will **** you out of your promos", it's like "lEtS gEt MoAR pEopLE tO uPGRade tO nEW clIENnt YEesssSS wATch THem bURN aNd SUFFeR"

After the 2nd time, why did you log back in and try it again? I would think you'd be more careful after the first, let alone 2nd time you got a black screen that caused a loss in your promos.
