What's the point in buying skins anymore?

I'm sure this isn't even the first time someone's complained about this. About 70% of my team builder games where I try to use a skin I end up using the default skin. I know, there's a "fix" for it (Switching characters/skins, press okay, then re-select) but honestly, I can't remember to do this every game. The most annoying thing about this problem is that not only has this problem been persistent for the last 2-3 patches, but no one can even really tell if they've fixed their problem before getting into a game. This problem isn't only on team builder too (although team builder is where the problem happens most of the time), I've had this problem in normal and draft games too.

Honestly Riot, I know a lot of people complain about servers and log on problems, but we literally pay you for skins, and apparently I can't even use them more than half the time. Every game I join with this problem, all I can ever think is "Why did I buy skins that I can't use? If only I could refund all of my skins.."
