[Gameplay] Item Glitch?

Im not sure if this is an item glitch, but i was playing mid tf with the summoner spells ghost and flash and i went back with about 1,000 gold. That's when I realized that I could buy the jungle items. I then bought the item and attempted to refund it, but it didnt work. So I ended up selling it, but i did not get any gold back in return.
