Client shuts me out

In champion select my client will shut me out and I can't select anything, whether it's summoner spells, champions, or even the close button. At first I thought it was an internet problem, but I saw messages coming in and I ran a speed test that said everything was fine. Anyways, this got me stuck with no smite as a jungler as I couldn't even dodge the queue. It's happened to me 2 or 3 times this weekend and luckily the other times I had already selected everything I wanted.
