Massive chat delay in lobby?

I'm in a custom game and im trying to see what others are chatting to get it going, when the timer repeatedly gets stuck and i can't see any new chat. When i type something in and press enter, it goes out but I can't see it. They can respond to what I typed but I can't see it. Any fixes? EDIT: Whenever I move my mouse it updates. Also, I can hear the sounds from the messages but can't see them.
