[CLIENT] Firewall

There are many of these threads and I am not one to usually say what other people say for the fun of it.

I am, however, incredibly pissed off this time. I get the "unable to connect" error 2/3 of the time I try to log in, and when I do I have the amazing luck of getting the firewall error the moment I try to get into a game. Now, of course, I first try it in a custom game, if it doesn't work then, I don't bother.

After having tried every different type of "fix" that people may have thought of from Reddit or the Riot websites and/or Reds, I feel obliged to write this thread very well acknowledging that it's simply a repeat of many others.

Thank you,

K.

Here is the fix that finally worked:

I just made a forum promoting the fix you posted from Reddit, along with credit going to the guy on Reddit, so more people can hopefully fix their LoL: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/o9Obc9ru-firewall-error-after-champion-select-fix-at-least-it-worked-for-me

Thanks for your tip man! :)

As much as I liked the post above, the reasoning behind it is quite flawed especially when it comes to ISPs from outside of the US. Since I am in Canada and using an independent ISP and I've also had this problem with my previous ISP from time to time I can assure you it's not the ISP.

The one thing that has worked for me, tested it quite a bit is this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1gn3vt/fix_crash_after_champion_select/

I just figured this out. If you are having problems with your League crashing immediately after champion select and you have logitech software I HAVE THE FIX FOR YOU, also if you are experiencing this problem and don't have any Logitech products, it wouldn't hurt to try it too! Edit4: Logitech hardware support can now be disabled by adding “LogitechSupport=0” to the “General” section in your game.cfg If you use any Logitech peripherals and have drivers installed they can cause League of Legends to crash rather frequently so you’ll want to apply this fix that Riot didn’t explain very clearly. The file game.cfg is located within the Config folder found in the League of Legends directory, the full default path is C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config\game.cfg. To edit it, open it in a plain text editor like Notepad. The file is split into sections, look for the line [General] and paste "LogitechSupport=0" (without the quotes) directly below it and save, all done. Go to: C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\releases\x.x.x.xxx (folder with LARGEST number IE 0.0.0.238)\deploy In this folder, delete or RENAME two files, LogitechGKey.dll and LogitechLed.dll. This should hopefully cause your client to not crash anymore. I would recommend just renaming these files, or if you are going do delete them MAKE SURE you make a copy of them first, in case you need to restore them in the future. I have been suffering from this problem for MONTHS.. in fact.. ever since they released the logitech update.. from debugging league, I discovered that these files are causing a memory violation, whether it is due to Logitech Gaming Software, or just poor programming in general.. not sure... I hope this helped. PS: I do not have a Logitech keyboard, rather I have a G930 headset. So if you're wondering whether or not this only pertains to users with keyboards, it does not. It pertains to anyone using Logitech hardware. EDIT: To further clarify, if you are running Logitech gaming software, do my fix. If you experience crashing after champion select but are not running LGS, try my fix but don't delete the dlls.. Just rename them. If it didn't help you, just change their names back. That will ensure that nothing will be broken for you. EDIT2: To be SUPER-DOOPER clear: The problem that my solution pertains to is: The game crashes right when the loading screen is supposed to show up, after champion select, but then the client would just disappear; and when you go to the riot icon in the system tray the pvp.net client would be open but there was no reconnect button or it is greyed out. EDIT3: You all made my morning! This is my first time even getting remotely close to the top page, and I got here by helping people, rather than posting something like "HotShotGG did a funny dance with Teemo" and getting silly upvotes. I feel like my upvotes are representations of gratitude, and that makes me feel great! This morning I got up for work to see all the Reddit love and I couldn't help but feel a great sense of satisfaction that I helped so many if you out. God knows I was getting no where with Riot tech support so I know your frustrations! EDIT4: Thank you for the love, Riot rewarded me for my troubles with a bunch of free RP.. which is awesome! I also got Reddit gold from a viewer as well! Thank you so much! Glad I could help!

I've had this problem several times as well, and leavebuster is screwing up my ability to queue up now. Riot's terrible servers are gonna make this game unplayable at this rate. Waiting 5 minutes for a queue because of this firewall bug thats happened off and on for ages is just bs.

Hello League of Legends players.

After the Season 4 (4.1) patch many of us have been or started having issues with League of Legends. Such issues include Lag Spikes, Client Crashes, and/or inability to patch.

We've been making numerous threads and/or raising old topics that have spoken about your issue in hopes of reaching the eyes of Riot, so I think that if we stand united our voices will be heard and that hopefully these problems will be resolved.

The Problem In Detail: You open League of Legends (with or without Admin doesn't matter). Type in your ID, password, and login. Everything works perfect so far. You then try to Start a game (Rank/Normal/Custom, doesn't matter). You will then continue to pick your character and lock-in. As soon as the Champion Selection window closes, the game loading window opens (all black), however nothing ever appears and you are left with a complete black screen for approximately 15 seconds, until a pop-up window shows up that reads...

Quote:

Failed to Connect

Unable to connect to the server. If you have a firewall, it may be blocking the connection. Please refer to your firewall's documentation. Would you like to retry the connection?

Retry | Cancel Failed (Attempted/Suggested Fixes):

-Power cycle the modem -Reset the modem -Reset the computer -Release and Renew the IP -Flush the DNS -Turn off the Windows Advance Firewall -Turn off the Anti-virus Firewall -Opened it as Administrator -Repaired League of Legends -Changed the modem for a new one -Uninstall and Reinstall League of Legends -Uninstall my anti-virus/firewall -Completely disable Windows Firewall (not just turned off) -Completely disable Windows Defender (not just turned off) -Turned off IPv6 -Disable IPv6 from my network device -Installed special LoL from support ticket (non-pando)

Using a VPN is NOT a fix/solution.

I've spent about a day's worth (and I'm still am) trying to fix this issue and I've came to the conclusion that this issue isn't on my end.

Notes: -The majority of affected players use Comcast as their ISP. -Using HotSpotShield/WTFast will allow you to play but with a high ping, also this isn't really consider a "fix". -The problem happens with Riot servers IP 192.64.171.* and 192.64.170.* any other server and LoL works. -This happened before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkdAUM5RM3Q -Problem is with the ISP, I apologize to Riot for pointing fingers.

yes! this keeps happening to me, and it only started recently and leaverbuster keeps making me wait 5 min until I'm able to start looking for a game

don't need to save those Logitech files as the game will add them again every update. I'm constantly deleting them

i dont have a fix but if you press cancel it brings you to the recconnect screen and usually works after you press reconnect at least for me everytime i press retry it never works

GonBroke12/16/2014, 9:39:50 AM1 votes

I'm having the same issue, and some dick head deleted my thread, eben though others are also having this issue. Except mine started after the servers crashed. Dear god why can't Riot fix their piece of shit game. It crashes so much, and they wont even address the issue...

Instead they just add more penalties for people who leave the game. Which fucks us legitimate players up when we can't even connect to the game.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried this repeatedly as it is one of the "fixes" I have seen on a few websites. It hasn't worked yet.

The only thing that's worked for me (I've been getting it frequently lately too, as well as often being unable to connect to the store) is pressing cancel and then trying to reconnect after a few minutes. Immediately trying to reconnect always fails. I don't believe the firewall is actually an issue like the error message says.
