Not Letting Me Talk At Character Select Screen

Hey Guys, I've just been playing blind pick PVP and for the past few games when I get to character select screen I cannot type and communicate what role I would prefer or see what any of my teammates are wanting to choose. Any Ideas? Also when I get to that screen a window for New message pops up and if I try to close it, it basically causes my client to crash. Thanks in advance.
