[CLIENT] After accepting to play a game all i see is the background image

I accept a match found prompt and all i see is the animated background image of summoner's rift and can only interact with a few ui elements like settings, help and individual chat. Anything else i cannot access or see (champion pool, ban/selection, team chat etc.) Previously i spectated a friend's game and nothing else before that. As a result of not picking/banning I had a temporary time ban from flex.
