Shaco shiv gets cancelled out on dying while its in air (GAME BUG)

I know that his E (two poison shiv) gets cancelled when thrown at enemy champ who goes into bush, but it has now happened to me numerous times where I throw a shiv which gets cancelled upon dying. The projectile is in the air flying to the target champ.
