Rune pages not showing (can't use them)

As seen on the picture in the link, I can't use any of my rune pages, and I can't edit them. Basically I can't play the game without some huge handicap. I don't know what it is, I don't know how many people experience this bug, but it's certainly very annoying.

The picture is made in practice mode btw, but I can confirm it happens in normal games as well.

EDIT: The problem seems to disappear after letting the client sit idle for some time after starting it up. I suspect it has something to do with background loading not going properly. Just a guess

EDIT 2: For me the client has to be idle for about 5 minutes after i start it in order to properly load the rune pages. So the game is playable for me, fortunately.

I had the same issue.

It occurred for me after the following events occurred:

Modifying rune page while in queue for ARAM
Entered champ select
Opted to save unchanged rune page at automatic prompt
My randomly assigned champion was set to one of the default rune pages (the Sorcery one for Veigar)

At this point, my second customizable rune page had the red (!) next to its name. When trying to select or open any rune page (default or custom), I received the partial rune page window that the screenshots in this thread show. While this partial window was open, I was unable to click on any champion selection menu options, other than the "Close rune pages" (X) button.

After closing the partial window, I could select a default rune page, but I was unable to access either of my custom pages. (One was in the error state, the other was fine.)

I'm guessing it has something to do with unsaved changes on the custom rune pages.

just by that screenshot you have a lot more going on than the inability to pick your rune page. whats that empty box at the top? Try closing that.

I had the same bug, and it wasn't because of recently loading the client. I'd already played a match with no problem. The client will randomly shit the bed and won't load the Store or Runes tabs until you restart it.

It happened to me just now. I think its if you are editing runes and it becomes your pick, the pick window comes to the front and bugs the rune page, I have recreated it twice now

Just had the same issue, you can close the empty box and reopen it and you still get the empty box, I dodged instead of forcing everyone on my team to play a gimped game.

I went into practice tool, and it was still bugged

Restarting the client did work, but needless to say, it can happen again.

Riot, this needs to be fixed.

Same problem, it started happening after i clicked "create new rune page" when in lobby. I hope restarting launcher will help...

This bug just happened to me too. In a game forced to use preset runes because of it.

I suffered from the same bug. Then, an hour or two later, I played another game (this included a restart of the client). My rune page said that it was my "Press the Attack" page but when I arrived in-game it was actually an electrocute page (specifically the tank zed page I'd copied off of someone on reddit). I have video evidence of this if necessary. Then when I finished that game, I went to check my runes to see what was up. But my runes page would not load. All other pages would load fine, i.e. spells, items, emotes, champions. I have video evidence of this too. For now I will just upload a screenshot of the runes page not working. https://i.imgur.com/l4LQ4qe.jpg

The problem (at least with the rune screen, I haven't played another game yet) went away when I restarted the client.

This has been, and is still, happening to me as well. Seems to happen randomly, regardless of how long I have had the client open or how many games I have played. I go to open the rune pages up and I get the empty window like in the screenshot.

Sucks to get blocked for dodging just because the client is bugged.

This just happened to me as well. It was like that from the moment cham select started. Neither the edit button nor the drop down menu did nothing.

I too have experienced this bug. It's pretty game changing and I think there should be an immediate fix to this. Being unable to change runes can cause you to lose lane and even the game, considering how different and important runes are now. I hope they get to this soon T-T

I had the same problem, I did a full repair and it got fixed
