Did League just try to update mid-game and disconnected me?

Can someone please explain to me why I was randomly disconnected mid-game, and couldn't even re-open the client for at least a solid 5 minutes after I tried to restart it, and then got this error message saying I was reverted to a previous patch? Oh wait, here's the best part I ALSO got 5 games of low priority queue now.

riot is your shit so broken that you try to update mid-game and then punish the players when you disconnect them?
