Auto attacks not doing damage

I play fairly regularly as adc and there is an issue with the auto attacks occasionally no doing the intended damage. The animation will hit a champion or minion but does no damage to it. This happens probably 1/300 or so attacks(guesstimate). I know I'm not the only person this happens to because my friends have seen it happen as well. Please fix this issue. No damage = pissed off players.

it's called cancelling auto attacks

Definitely not, I understand canceling auto attacks. My damage just straight up doesn't go off. Or if they are too far away the aa won't hit sometimes after it has gone off(flash or some kind of gap closer)
