Relic Shield Item not working with some characters

I have been going support for awhile and I try to use the relic shield to increase my gold by killing the cannon minions in the waves and still allow my adc to benefit. the problem is that I last hit with hardly any life bar on the creeps and it does not execute minions. I had a minion down to 100 hp(tested this against my basic auto attack which only did 66 damage), and none of the times did the relic shield proc execute. It has happened, but it appears to be random. Yes, at the time I was trying to execute I had full stacks of procs on the item. This happened in multiple games and multiple waves of minions today. I have noticed it mainly on Morgana, but its also happened on other characters as well.

The execute is for melee basic attacks.

Relic shield shares gold if you kill a minion through any source of damage.

The execute only occurs on melee basic attacks.

Morgana (and THRESH!!!!!) are not melee champions; they are ranged champions.

tl;dr Read the bloody tool-tip.

This false bug report shows up at least twice a week.

This happens to me on thresh. such a pain in the ass. i need to wait for a minion to drop to less than 50 hp to proc it. it's so dumb

btw u can proc it on thresh if u get close to the minion because he's considered as a melee champion when he's close the the target

I probably shouldn't have to ask this, but this is just to be sure, was your partner within 1050 units of you when you were trying to execute the minion, and if so were you using a melee Champion?

I hate it too, it sometimes works on thresh and it sometimes doesn't on Thresh...
