[GAMEPLAY] Low performance on AMD cards

In the past, me and my friends who have had AMD cards (Me having an r7 360, others having 270x, 280x, 370) have gotten good performance using mid-low end processors (fx-4xxx, 5xxx, i3. pentium). We would get anywhere from 70 to 140 frames depending on the situation ingame.

We've all gotten better cards (Vega 56, rx 480, rx 580, 1070) and processors (1800x, 7700k, 6700k, 4790k) and the only one who seems to get higher performance is the friend with the 1070, while all of us have actually sunk in FPS, all of us AMD card users averaging around 60-80fps on med-high while the 1070 gets 150+ on high We can play all other games with very nice FPS, but league of legends just hasn't gotten any higher frames despite the 'optimization' of the game and the upgrade of hardware.

We have all tried following the FAQ, uninstall and reinstalled drivers, upgraded bios, overclocked and reinstalled windows fresh but nothing seems to increase FPS in league of legends.

I'm using an RX 460 4GB with FX-6300 CPU and I average 199 - 250 FPS running the game on the max settings with frame rate uncapped. I don't think your issues are having anything to do with League of Legends itself.

Do you have a lot of start up programs enabled? Background applications tend to be really hard on processors even when they are doing nothing. I would try turning off anything running that you aren't using and disabling as many start up programs in your Task Manager as you possibly can.

Also, League of Legends (the game itself) is still running on Direct X9 as far as I know. Upgrading your computer should give a fairly significant boost as that's a really ancient engine (dating back to Windows XP era). There's nothing factually that can support the accusations you are making. You really should consider looking into other areas before venting on Riot as there's not even a possibility that any of this is their fault.

As a last note, most modern games support multiple cores and 64 bit operations. League of Legends is a 32 bit application. This means that it favors strong single core speeds more than anything else. An old computer with a higher CPU clock speed, 4.5 Ghz Duo Core for example, will run League of Legends better than even a brand new 12 core CPU running 2.5Ghz. In other games this is often not the case, as they can use more than one core to improve performance. There is nothing Riot can do about this however, without updating to a newer version of DirectX (as DirectX9 only supports the use of a single core at a time).
