Negative Influence Points?

Hello! I recently purchased Jax because he was recommended by one of my good friends. I went to go buy him and I had about 5250 ip. When I bought him, my "ip" dropped to a staggering -320. I'm not sure how or why this happened but I would like to know If I can have my Influence Points back.
