Gifted friend rp but endeed up gifting myself rp. I can't gift

I gifted my friend rp last night and then today I logged on and I had more rp. Can someone teach me how to gift? I'm doing the right things, gifting center, purchase rp for friend then choose which amount of rp then paying. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
