High ping at night

Hey so I've been experiencing a high ping (130-300 MS) around 9PM to 11PM constantly during my games. This has occurred for a whole month without getting any better. I'm with Altima Telecom and haven't changed companies for the last few years. This is the first time it has happened since I started playing league (around 6 years ago) and is a problem I only have with this game. During any other period of the day, my ping is at a constant 40 MS. I want to know if this is a problem with riot or a local problem and also if there is a fix for the problem. Thank you.

I am with another Company, but it has also been happening with me. Around 9 pm to 11 pm, League of Legends lags and is the only program on my computer that does so. In the meantime, I have tried to run something else in the background to make sure that it is not my internet. As I run ping test and run a Youtube video, nothing slows down. It is only League of Legends. I tried to repatch League and it actually worked for a moment, this is the reason why I think League may have a problem with certain internet companies.

I am so glad I am not the only one experiencing this! Almost the exact same numbers, but different ISP.

It's because the internet wants to go to sleep.

I have this issue as well. I made a post about it practically at the same time as you.

I don't know if this will explain the issue in your specific case but here are some possible causes.

  1. You may have automatic background software updates scheduled for the time periods where you are noticing high ping.

  2. Your ISP may have a time period at night where they prioritize traffic from specific customers. For example, some ISPs have deals with corporate customers to give them priority bandwidth at certain times where the network usually has low overall traffic, so that way the corporate customers can schedule to do bandwidth intensive activities at those times without putting strain on the ISP's network at peak times.

  3. Riot might also have something scheduled around this time since other players are also saying that they have the same issue. I personally have not ever noticed this issue, but I might be in a different timezone than you so your 9PM-11PM might be my 3AM-5AM for example.

It happened to me in the back to have this issue. It was really annoying because i had no problem with my internet. Now everything seems good but i don't want that to happen to me again .

Yep same. I know it's on Riots end. The last time Riot tried to tell everybody in the USA that their high ping was not their issue they were wrong. They have an issue here and just like last time it's not on the users end. It's a Riot issue.

Well I know this thread is old, but I am constantly getting disconnected during the game (short time, but enough for my laner to kill me), my post here was ignored, cannot send a support ticket as it tels me I need to log in even when I am logged in, yet riot doesnt give a fuck. I guess you wont receive help either.

Happens here in Australia too. I usually get 18-30ms during the day, and ping spikes of 20-300+ ms at night. Like why?

Yup same here is their any fix? Just happened now. At 9pm my ping was at 50ms in game and then it slowly started going up to the 70's 90's ect.. up to 150 - 200ms. Around 11pm at night is when the high ping leaves. Called my internet service provider and nothing on their end. Does anyone know why?

I know you think it may be on leagues end (and it very may well be) but there was a time when my internet provider "had too high of a population for the current bandwidth) in my neighbor hood which made it so my latency and speeds tanked at times when a lot of people were sitting in bed streaming in other houses. league seems really sensitive to ping changes, where other games seem to not be effected so hard. I'd suggest emailing your service provider and or clock your speeds using speed testing sites every hour or so of the day and seeing if it changes speeds at night.
