Vi Excessive Force Not Working Correctly

Whenever I use (E), it does the cone of damage in a random direction. Sometimes it would not go off at all. it would just show the animation but nothing gets damaged. Lost horribly, surrender at 20. Would it be possible to have loss prevented? Mode: Ranked Map: Summoners Rift
