[GAMEPLAY] Able to upgrade Sheen into Runeglaive without Smite

Playing Nasus (may not matter), I had a sheen and saw that the Runeglaive items were not grey in the upgradable items section when Sheen is selected in the shop. I rightclicked to see if it was actually possible to buy, and the item was bought (gold spent) then the item disappeared but I was not refunded and I could not undo the purchase. The entire Sheen and upgrade gold was lost instantly.
