Relic Shield Bug

I was playing as Sion support and had bought a relic shield at the start. I had 1 charge of it. I sold it and the ball rotating around did not go away. I bought the relic shield again and I get 2 balls but only 1 charge. I've attached a screenshot showing the second case.

I've experienced the same thing. I'm not sure, but I think it's from using the relic stacks while he's dead. The spoils of war goes off and the icon indicating uses changes, but the floating charges don't get used.
