Patch 5.18 error [CRASH]

So i have been having this error for about a day and a half, league was working right before the update, but i have not been able to join a match since. it keeps telling me that i need to check my network connection... which has not changed since league has stopped working, my ps3, computer, cell phone, everything all work properly so i don't believe this to be an issue on my end, and i have missed out on 2-3 games where i cant connect but it lets me join the lobby when the game is over... plz help

so just to be clear,

1. i can sign on to league
2. i can que up for a match
3. after que, champion select is normal
4. after champion select, the screen goes blank
5. after about 5-8 seconds a pop up saying "unable to connect to server (retry) (cancel)"
6. Neither retry or cancel do anything, and then i must alt+tab and close the league client
7. it then brings up a screen that says i have left a match in progress and i should try to reconnect.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 untill the game ends, and i am once again able to join chat but my summoner name is red
