Yasuo Q going through and not dealing dmg

Hello.

I wanted to ask if this is a bug or not, I main Yasuo since season 6 and I have always had this problem. You go fight someone and he knocks you up lets say,if I press q before he knocks me up there is a chance for my q to physically go through and deal no dmg. Is this intended or is it considered as a knockup and therefore not counted as me using Q ? It also happens sometimes when the enemy is knocked up or silenced and my q just goes through and deals no dmg.

Yasuo's Q will not deal damage if you are cc'd during the animation. This is intended counterplay built into his kit in the same way that all hard cc stops his e instantly rather than allowing him to go the full distance as other dashes do.
