Cannot connect to server

Two games in a row. First game. Mid way through, 13 minutes in, we got disconnected from the server. League Client Fine. Servers were still up. Internet connected was fine. Game ends and we get posted as AFK for the game. So far, everyone on my friends list was disconnected from the server, we live in Hawaii. We assumed it was a one time thing and maybe it was like a small crash. We jump into another game. Join game went fine. Champ select good. Load into game....Cannot connect to server?? Luckily, 15 minutes into the game we were able to join back and win the game.

Is it possible to have the server in Hawaii drop randomly like that?
