Singed poison not drawing tower aggro

Just played a singed top and his poison trail didn't draw tower aggro. he stood between outer and mid towers, killing me and minions, would run by the turret with minions, direct damage me with poison and the tower didn't do anything! the poison DOT wouldn't trigger either, I would be taking damage from the after effects of poison and he'd run into turret range and nothing!
