Thresh with relic shield
When playing Thresh in normal, there is a bug where the melee autoattacks execute minions is not applied. I have attacked minion at 200 health and not execute the minions to give the relic shield passive.

has RANGED auto attacks. This Board topic keeps popping up WAY more then it should.
Thresh is ranged and not melee so the execute passive does not apply. This is intended. You can get the gold from the passive, but you have to actually last hit the minions (the passive on Flay helps with this).
Thresh has a ranged autoattack so he doesn't get the execute.

You can proc The shield only with your skills or when your passiv on the flair is active.
Yet another person that doesn't read tooltips. I guess that is why you were in bronze.
as you have noticed, thresh isnt melee, he's ranged. starting with flay will allow you to last hit easier in lane for the gold and health
They just need to fix the tooltip to make it obvious what it does. You're one of hundreds I've met that think the tooltip is somewhat unclear about that aspect.
Thresh is RANGED, hence why the recommended page has the 
on it!
