Lag Issues and Disconnection Problems In Alaska

907G - League of Legends [ Alaska ]

The Alaska Group of League players have been experiencing lag problems and disconnection issues for a while now since the last few patch updates. A lot of players have been disconnecting and having unorthodox lag issues since the sever change a while ago. Can you please look into it and try to make some changes so us up here in the north west don't have to worry about panic flashing or spamming keys to make plays up here.

Thanks, ImHearingThingsitem 3682

Confirmed. A few friends of mine have also experienced the same issue.

Voice communication remains fine, other players in the game outside of our region don't experience the disconnect.

Internet itself stays stable during the disconnections, only league itself drops.

Everything else remain online and active.

Alaskan here. I lag out and everything around me moves, I can see people dying and using abilities but I can't move at all and I'll see my health bar go down as I die due to the bug. Like everyone else nothing else disconnects and it's only league of legends having problems. I'm using GCI.

Just to support what these jabronis are saying, I'm visiting my buddy in Alaska right now and (lul GCI) am having the same issues, and he has had them for the last few months. Providing logs below in case someone feels benevolent. 8^)

It's an ISP routing issue, unfortunately only affecting GCI internet customers. Riot and GCI are aware of the issue.

I get randomly disconnected once a game, sometimes not at all, sometimes while in the game gui...it is very irritating.

WOW so it's not just me holy crap. Every game it's at least 2 dcs a game. HERES SOME FACTS:

  1. The rest of my internet works fine. (stream/music/other stuff playing to see if it worked in dc)
  2. While DC I can see my character moving and dying but cannot control them
  3. Seems to happen randomly. Some are in intense fights while others im just farming and it happens
  4. I have ran the hextech tool, I have made sure the ports were fine, I have also clean uninstalled and reinstalled, shut my firewall down, and threw my computer out of a window.

Went online to find some info and found this so I'll keep an eye on the thread, but until they help us Eskimos out I have no reason to keep playing. If you have any questions please let me know.

Another Alaskan with fastest internet available in the biggest city, disconnect every so often, sometimes the same time as my friend but we still can talk on discord ect so its not that we lose connection to internet. i have had tech come and check our cables inside and outside the house multiple times. my routers are new, just baught another 200$ wireless router and a 80$ wireless card for desktop so that not the problem, it has to be communication to league server or something. ive had this problem at the start of the last few patches before but this one hasnt calmed down.

Sinnergy6/9/2018, 7:23:09 AM3 votes

Okay, it's been a couple weeks now, feels like about 2 months. And the random disconnects have increased in severity for my account. This is absurd and makes a competitive match unplayable. Riot pleaaaaaaaaaase fix this.

TonetheBone6/5/2018, 5:37:18 AM3 votes

Same issue in Anchorage AK.

Smut Puppy6/6/2018, 10:50:30 AM3 votes

Same in Fbks. Screw you gci

Some good news for everyone. I'd like to think our cries were heard by Riot and GCI.

GCI Customers that play the computer game League of Legends are complaining about constant disconnects during game play. GCI Engineers have spoken with Riot Games Engineers to resolve the issue. Riot Games is requesting GCI to make a change to prefer routes coming from Chicago to allow customer traffic destined for their game servers to route to Chicago instead of Portland.

This fix was implemented last night. So far I've played a few games and the disconnects have stopped happening for me! Even without Haste running. Has anyone else been able to notice improvements?

Big Dumb Jerk6/6/2018, 5:33:45 PM2 votes

So, how about our own server here? I'm even okay with sharing with Canada.

Phidget6/8/2018, 8:10:59 AM2 votes

Please, for the love of God, help us.

Zuben6/4/2018, 8:33:48 AM2 votes

If anyone having the same issues, I suggest sending in a ticket to riot more people doing this will grab their attention faster.

Vortex Larson6/9/2018, 7:08:19 AM2 votes

Alaska brothers and sisters yes! Same exact thing with me and all my friends with GCI. We just freeze for several seconds, can see other players move, can talk on discord, and then can move again after several seconds. The most obnoxious thing EVER. Absolutely can’t play ranked right now.We called GCI, and like someone else mentioned, they know about the problem and appear to be investigating.

Please everyone - call GCI tech support and make a ticket about the problem!! The tech guy I was talking to suggested -and I agree- the more we highlight it the faster they will fix it. PLEASE CALL ASAP. Thanks for starting this thread so Riot can continue to see our plight on their end. I’ll get all my AK friends to bump it.

Vizzini6/2/2018, 7:56:38 PM2 votes

Bump

Krispybabies6/18/2018, 8:20:10 AM2 votes

Confirming. I have no issues with my internet besides in game on league. Fairbanks, AK. just had a little league party, we'd all dc at the same time (one on wifi, other 2 on ethernet) mind you this is happening while steaming videos perfectly. We have the highest internet speed available (1gb dlspd) and this was not an issue previously. This is Riot.

Forgot to mentin, same issue as a lot of you, we just stand still while all hell breaks lose around us and then dc and reconnect breifly after. It's unfair, even though I have been kicking ass in ranked regardless. Riot fix this please.

lukarians6/4/2018, 7:58:56 PM2 votes

Oh thank god it's not me. I've been worrying about this for a few days and seeing if it was just specifically league or my internet, because I'd be on Discord and it would still work fine. One time I almost thought to buy a new router because the entire internet turned off by coincidence a few seconds after I Dc'ed from league, but it was just someone accidentally messing it up.

My friends said that Haste is SUPPOSED to help fix it but I'm not too sure. Hoping GCI would maybe do something about this but reading the other comments I suppose it might be a while.

Clean As Fück6/4/2018, 11:14:07 PM2 votes

GCI said they are actively working with Riot to fix this problem, they said it may take awhile but both parties are aware of the problem.

Commando Zeo6/19/2018, 5:48:10 AM1 votes

Common Riot.. I already reported the bug. Hopefully Riot and GCI can work something out. This is making the game unplayable. Please fix this.

DirtySanchèz6/19/2018, 8:23:12 AM1 votes

Game has been unplayable for me, THANK GOODNESS I FOUND THIS THREAD! I was starting to go crazy with trying to diagnose what was happening. Tracert confirms dropped packets at xe-10-2-0.bar1.Portland1.Level3.net [4.15.128.1] and beyond.

XAhriXMain6/22/2018, 1:52:52 AM1 votes

So I don't know if anyone else has stated this yet, but if you're still getting DC'd then I suggest you get Haste as it actually eliminates this/minimizes to like 1 in a blue moon DC. Haste will in game find the best internet route to the server. I get a steady 100-120 ms ping and i have the fastest GCI Internet plan, with everything on my end new and checked out/replaced as needed. Haste helps a lot. This was me the entire time until I tried it lol [sg-ahri-1]

The Graver6/22/2018, 2:25:35 AM1 votes

I've been wondering why my connection to League has been screwy, and haven't been playing at all for a couple weeks because of it. Didn't realize it was something other players in Alaska specifically were having.

Dorth6/22/2018, 3:16:31 AM1 votes

I got this message from Riot the other day.

Ah yikes! Sorry to hear about the headaches dealing with these constant disconnects. It sounds tilting for sure, ugh. (Please go retrieve your computer from outside though. It's lonely without you.) As "luck" would have it, there's been some recent troubles going on with how GCI's been connecting players to our NA server here, but our teams have been working with GCI directly to get any kind of fix in place:

Right around Tuesday 6/19, a new route was created to get around those constant disconnects, so things should be back to normal. If you test out any custom or practice tool matches (since these are hosted online the same as normal and ranked matches), are you still running into any disconnects? The temporary trade-off here is that you might notice slightly higher ping times (5-10 ms) but we're still hammering out some details and other settings to get those smoothed out as well.

OptimistcPeasant7/9/2018, 3:32:34 PM1 votes

I can't find any comments on the fix to this, however I want to thank Riot and GCI fr working together to resolve this, as of about two weeks ago we can again play league! very grateful -- thank you RIOT

Roakai8/8/2018, 8:51:20 PM1 votes

Hay im useing GCI and im haveing continual ping spikes spots were i can not move and such. This might not be a league problem but a GCI one but its still a problem

Yensidd6/13/2019, 12:53:42 AM1 votes

I don’t have bad internet or weird lag. The big thing for me is the long difference. The old servers gave us around 65-70 ping, and now I play at 92-110 and it is a big issue honestly. Is their anyway this can be avoided? I have 50mb internet so the connection isn’t a problem

Zuben6/3/2018, 7:13:27 AM1 votes

Im also having the same issues, my isp is GCI

Malachipt6/8/2018, 7:11:01 PM1 votes

Having same problem. After a few patches ago I suddenly found a I was getting disconnected 2-4 times per game. Basically unplayable at that level. Funny thing is that when I hook my phone up to my AT&T mobile hot spot I haven't experienced a single disconnect. So at this point I'm canceling my GCI account, and putting that $100/mo into my AT&T account, it's a win win win for me, despite a slightly higher ping, 115ish. Give it a try guys, GCI was bought out by a very large scale investment firm last year because it's a monopoly gold mine, they aren't going to do anything to try to fix this, it makes no financial sense for them.

FurriesAreHot5/30/2018, 12:58:05 PM1 votes
  1. How's it like in alaska? Always wanted to know

  2. Yeah, the server move to Chicago did have it's downsides. Helped alot, hurt a few, badly. Hope something helps y'all resolve this.

fatal9076/11/2018, 5:04:59 AM1 votes

I live in Anchorage, AK and have GCI internet. I'm also experiencing the Disconnects from League.

OUTTAMYYARD496/12/2018, 6:33:44 AM1 votes

Once or twice a game with 10 minutes in between dcs. Everything works fine BUT league. The ping will be fine and normal until randomly it just disconnects me while i walk under tower ans watch myself die. Fun times! Its only gci internet, mta and acs are not sharing this problem.

Solmancy6/12/2018, 9:17:37 AM1 votes

Apparently, according to some Anchorage folks, Haste has been helping with the issue. I myself have already gone through the 2 week free trial and have to buy the normal software. Im wondering if anyone with/has a chance to see if it works, that would be great (currently at work -_-)

as of now, i can at least confirm that it worked, for me at least

J00kah6/16/2018, 3:42:32 AM1 votes

While it's good to know I'm not the only one, sucks that we have to deal with this. Also on GCI in Anchorage and started having the same issues everyone has mentioned here since 4/21. Every game now, at least 3-4 disconnects lasting up to 30 seconds. Only affecting league traffic, everything else staying connected online. Sent my trouble ticket to Riot then which pointed the issue to the ISP.

People here have mentioned Haste to help with the issue. I installed it last night and every game since, connection drops have stopped with Haste running.

I'm only on the trial period with Haste. I enjoy this game as F2P. But resorting to a $10 subscription just to have a consistent connection with league will be my reason to stop playing.
