I believe the new jungle items (not sure) are causing a glitch that cause Tryndamere to die while he is in ult form. Multiple times in one game, I casted ult and fought a battle. I would then instantly die (with ult still up). WW would normally be the one I would die instantly with and he had BORK and the new jungle items. Not sure but I think the new jungle items are going through Tryndameres ultimate!

The smites don't go through it that's for certain. I have tried it. Is is maybe the new damage over time or even the one that gives true damage on hit?

okay so it has to do with the jungle items not the smite its self. 
has added true damage (if you smite the enemy champion), on attacking an enemy champion, for six seconds. No other form of true damage can bypass his ult. I feel this is a bug an it needs to be resolved, untell that time Tryndmaer is unplayable
