Draven kill on Zed

I was playing a casual game of U.R.F and when a zed used his ult on me on top lane i threw a auto to Malphite (his lane partner) and the auto hit malph and caused the damage but just before could appear he died instantly from his little life and i hadn't hit him since his auto. This happened to one of my friends. he was zed and ulted a draven but died before reappearing. not sure if its a bug or what not.
