Mac - Freezing every few seconds with VOIP

Odd situation - whenever I join any voice chart (3rd party like DIscord or in client like League voice):

• The audio is muffled
• The game freezes like it's dropping frames every 3 or so seconds. In between is fine, I can move around and what not, and then it freezes for about 2 seconds.

If I join a game without joining any voice chat, I'm perfectly fine. The game runs smoothly. But if I join a voice chat prior to game starting or in the middle of a game, then the issue occurs. I've tried searching online for fixes but I can't find any. Any suggestions?
