Unacceptable numbers of Non-human players in TT and ARAM

In TT and ARAM I have noticed and reported a large number of non-human players. It was a HUGE detriment to Dominion and was the main reason I stopped playing that mode. It seems they've moved to TT and ARAM. It has gotten beyond the point that folks are up and leaving this fine game because of all the issues this creates. ACT NOW, THIS IS A CRITICAL ISSUE!

The offenders seem to be folks that are selling LoL accounts and are trying to level them up.

Fellow players, please voice your opinion on the poll herein.

Riot: The offenders need to be permanently banned. Please do this ASAP at the client level through automated bot detection or with a black hole (drop) for the offender's IP range. Please also consider reopening the tribunal for cheat reports.

For future prevention, I'm going to hate the solution I'm proposing but don't see another way. Please implement turing tests (e.g. CAPTCHA) to successfully logon, enter queue, and receive game rewards.

Warm Wishes and Godspeed, Izzy

Riot addressed bot issues here. Basically, they're working on it, but it's difficult to quickly differentiate between a bot and a bad player. Furthermore, captchas would be more of an annoyance to human players than a countermeasure against bots, since captchas are already used during account creation.

It is pretty ridiculous. I was playing with my low level friend and it was so obvious if there was a bot. In TT most of the time 1-2 of the enemies were bots. Rarely were there all human games.

Whew... lots of talking to myself here- come on folks, pitch in like it matters >:0

Just had yet another game of pushing the limits vs the bots in normal PvP TT.

Champion Kills: 54 (tried harder this time and I still think this may be approaching the upper limits of what's possible here) Deaths: 0 Largest Killing Spree: 54 Largest Multi-kill: 3 (yeah, that's the entire opposing team) Damage dealt to champions: 84,617 (nothing special, seen better especially on other champs) Damage dealt (total): 774,989 (nice...) Largest critical strike: 1,409 (up slightly from last bot match, I was running +crit damage runes and had 100% crit chance :p) Damage taken: 30,839 (about average for the damage dealt to the champs on my team) Gold Earned: 36,736 (I think I was sitting on about 15k that I couldn't spend) Minions Slain: 204 Neutral Monsters Killed: 323

There may be some unintended consequences to what I've been doing so I would LOVE to have RIOT input on the following two items:

  1. I must come off as a horrible curmudgeon because I report all bots and this means I've probably reported thousands. I do wonder if this is exactly why I'm matched up with bots (as if I'm a horrible teammate).
  2. And I do wonder if all these S+'s I've been getting is making it much harder for others to get S's. I heard that it's like being graded on a curve.

For the record, I've started not selecting a champ in champ select until I get a reply from all the other players. I've gone as many as 3 fails (queue dodges) before I get a good game with all humans. Unfortunately, that means that the opposing team usually has one or more bots so it's never really fair.

Until this gets fixed, I'd recommend everyone queue dodge unless you've verified you have a human team.

It has been 4 months now since I started this thread and it's time for an update.

My first game of the day today in TT:

  1. Queue projected wait was under 2 minutes while actual queue wait was just under 15 minutes.
  2. Each opposing team had ONE human while the rest (4 total) were bots.
  3. Sadly, this is the normal for TT. Saw this pattern in Dominion as well- I'll call it a games' death spiral.

For some history, Riot said that they were shutting down Dominion because they never paid much attention to the map and it was stagnant. The reality was that they didn't need to update the map, just get rid of the bots so they wouldn't ruin the game. People aren't stupid- when a mode gets ruined, they move on; sometimes to other maps/modes and sometimes abandon the game to move on to other games all together.

It has been six months since we were promised a fix. We now have zero improvement in number of bots. We do have a beta out of a new user interface (UI) for this game. Although I have not looked into if this new UI also makes it harder for the bots (e.g. such that they cannot control/interact with the game), the actual game (not the lobby, sales, etc. stuff) doesn't appear to have changed. So, I'm guessing (but an educated one) that outside of legal avenues ZERO has been done to control the bots.

Six months is WAY more than enough time to implement security mitigations. Yes, bots are a security issue because each of the CIA triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability), is adversely impacted by bots.

Just had a normal (not ranked) PvP game on TT that was 5 bots (3 on their team and 2 on mine) and myself as the only human (the second game like this today). I received a S+ and cleaned up hard. I found that if you don't take the altars and wait to take Vilemaw until the finish, it 'll stretch out the game to allow you to get stats like I show below. FYI, I built Shaco for jungle and mostly let the bots duke it out in the lanes.

Champion Kills: 45 (grins.. I think this may be approaching the upper limits of what's possible here) Deaths: 5 mostly pushing my luck early vs jungle and enemy champs, and later vs Vilemaw) Largest Killing Spree: 41 Damage dealt to champions: 60,914 (nothing special, really) Damage dealt (total): 794,044 (WOW!) Largest critical strike: 1,325 (well, I was running +crit damage runes and had 100% crit chance :p) Damage taken: 3,934 (about average for the game) Gold Earned: 35,878 (I think I was sitting on about 15k that I couldn't spend) Minions Slain: 271 Neutral Monsters Killed: 290

While the S+ was nice, this was purely a novelty endeavor that I wish not to repeat again. PLEASE GET RID OF THE BOTS, RIOT!!!!!!
