Sometimes when ulting with lux laser it will not deal damage. i was using the star guardian lux skin so maybe it is the skin that is bugged but it happened 2 times in my last game... the laser was what looked to be very accurate and just caused no damage.
iHerring2 votesI suspect this is another case of Riots alleged 'hitboxes'. I forget exactly what the reasoning was, but it had to do with the way that the game draws the Lux beam compared to it's actual in game position. Because it's elevated off the ground or something.
Sometimes it will look like it should hit but doesn't, sometimes it will look like it clearly missed but get you a kill.
The0therDad1 votesYeah, Ive seen it when Im watching a lux do an ult. But if they are standing in the designated hit box (When you hit R before you click.) It should land.
Id test it. Have a friend go into a custom game, Place it next to/around/on and visually take note of how the ult looks when you cast it.
SmallTitSupp1 votesi dont think it was the hit box.. i used a q,r combo and the q landed so the r should have also. however no damage was applied at all.

When Lux is moved while channeling her ultimate, the animation of the ultimate separates from its actual hit-box. If they were in the laser animation, they wouldn't actually be hit by the ultimate while another location was.
SmallTitSupp1 votesno i wasnt, i used a q.r combo and the q landed and laser was right on top of them... so it should have q then ult laser to proc the passive but instead absolutely no damage was caused from either the q or the ult. in one instance my q landed and it was on an ezreal that was able to blink away even when snared
