Why can't I log on?!

I get past the authentication and get to the part where it is logging me in, it takes about a minute then tells me there is a connection error. I have done everything that is listed in the support and just about every trick to try and refresh everything. The only thing I have not done yet is uninstall and re install the game because I had a hell of a time getting it to install the first time and don't want to go through that again. can anyone help?
