Fervor of Battle and Yasuo

I recently noticed that when using Yasuo's Q to harass another champion that unless the ability hits only a champion, rather than minions as well as a chamion, does he gain any fervor stacks at all. This is wildly inconsistent with the wording of the mastery, where even though he is landing either/both an ability/auto-attack on a champion, he gains no stacks for fervor of battle at all if the Q also hits a minion.
