Chat does not work in champion selection

During the champion selection in Summoner's, the chat does not work. It keeps on saying "connecting" and it never connects. It should not because of internet because there is no lag while in game. Only the chat does not work during champion selection. On other times, such as in game, it works perfectly. How do I fix it?
