I was playing KhaZix in ascension. After I had hit level 16 and had q,e,&r all evolved, my team scored an ace and I leveled up to level 17 in which i was asked to upgrade my w.

I looked the game up and well there was an enemy Rengar ... both of you being level 16 and having fufilled the other requirements of "the hunt is on" quest caused you to gain the 4th evo point when he died.

It can happen if kha'zix wins the Hunt is On! Lore event when you have an enemy rengar later into the game

Did you kill a Rengar? I see 2 Kha'Zix games within the last day, but that's not Ascension, so perhaps it didn't update yet. ^ Edit: I see the game now. There is in fact a Rengar on the other team, so you most likely triggered and won the event.

If Rengar and Kha'Zix are on opposing teams, they can trigger the The Hunt is On! event. Whichever of them then kills the other gets a bonus: Kha'Zix gets a 4th evolution point and Rengar gains increased vision range in brush as well as maximum stacks of his Bonetooth Necklace (honestly I've forgotten what they did with that by now, is it just a passive?). This event does not trigger until Kha'Zix has 3 abilities evolved, so it's limited to at least level 16. I think it used to require Rengar to possess his Bonetooth Necklace, but I can't remember if they changed that requirement because it's no longer an item.
