(Not only) MAC Client broken
Hi, there have already been several threads about this bug splat issue (2-3x every other normal [SR] game) and everyone is pointing out that its only on Mac.
I'd like to deliver new information: I know that LoL is officially not supported / x-developed for linux but it is playable with a software suite (which uses wine) called playonlinux. As of now, I - a linux user - am also affected by the game crash / bug splat issue since 4.17 patch.
Why should/would Riot care about linux users? Well, because you might be able to draw conclusions from it; there might be some parallels.. Anyway, some more information about the setup:
- PlayOnLinux 4.2.2
- Wine Version: 1.7.19-LeagueOfLegends2
- Simulated Win Version: Windows XP
- Installed components: ie6
- Applied custom patches: texture patch via https://github.com/A-Metaphysical-Drama/LoL-Linux-Tools
Not gonna provide hardware specs because Ive been playing LoL successfully on this machine for quite some time now (since season2~; then windows, now linux).
Also, everyone seems to explain the bug a little bit differently, so here is how it happens to me:
-
it mostly happens early game (<10m, 1-2x) and might happen late game
-
it happens every other game: I've filled support twice after my bug splat top game. In those games it didn't happen
-
If I recall correctly, it happens on unlocked-cam while moving the cam away from own champ - right before it crashes it freezes... and the last thing I've always been doing was issuing move commands aka right clicking excessively.
-
I play aram a lot, so I think i can safely say that its (at least on my configuration) not affected by the bug and lately I've given up on playing normal because of fear - until its fixed ofc.. Also, I've turned down the video settings (no v-sync, everything else on low, no shadows, 60fps cap.) - not that my beast pc couldn't handle it.
Oh, btw. english is not my first language, so excuse any potential mistakes. I've proof read it so it should at least be understandable. I'll be available for mostly any questions.
Best regards
