TFT unable to buy units

Sorry that I wasn't able to get any recordings due to it happening the round before elimination. Setting the scene, I was going full assassin in ranked TFT(-lvl2, -lvl2, -lvl2, -lvl2 with Youmuus, -lvl2, -lvl2, and -lvl1) with only 5 people left in the game. The round after dragon with item, I luck out and find the last 2 akalis I need to get lvl 2 akali. Seems like a way to save me, I was the lowest health(6) of the 5 people remaining, only problem.... Everytime I clicked either of the 2 in the unit pool nothing happened. I then went on to lose the next round. I asked around the game to see if it was happening to anyone else and unfortunately it wasn't. So either you got a bone to pick with me riot, or I stumbled across some extra stupid gamechaning bug. And for those wondering, I tried buying any of the other units outside of the 2 akalis and the same thing happened. After trying to find recent posts with the same problem, I found 1 person who had a similar issue, and they think it might have something to do with the game accidently putting the same characters in 2 different players pool (meaning theoretically someone else in my game got the same 2 akalis the same turn as me) which in theory sounds possible I suppose. Anyone else ever had this issue, and if so what do you think caused it?

tl;dr Couldn't buy units from the champion pool even though I had plenty of gold to spare and 3 slots open on my bench.
