not getting a chest after an s (gameplay)

i have s ranks on several champions yet i have not gotten hextech chests for a lot of them. the hextech system was already working when i started playing the game so i should have a chest for every s ranked champion i have i also have not gotten a chest already on these champions.

Are you getting S ranks on free rotation champions? If you don't own the champ you can't get a chest.
