I cannot start a league of legends game

When i try to play a league of legends game, i go to champ select. After champ select however, League just stops working. It sends me a message saying something has caused league of legends to stop working. Windows will notify you when the program works again or something. Does it have something to do with the recent patch? Is anyone else having this problem? Please help me.
