Joined a new game while in a previous game?

So I was playing an URF game as pantheon, when all of a sudden my ping spiked to 500 and I lost connection. I alt+f4'd to try and reconnect, but there was no reconnect screen. I queued up for a new URF game, and I started playing that game, while my previous one was still going on. Is anyone else experiencing this?
