League client closes in champ select, game still starts, can't connect

We were in a ranked game in champ select and almost immediately after locking in my champion, my computer popped up "lolclient.exe has stopped working" and it said i left the lobby. Upon opening the game it brought me back to the main menu where I wasn't able to join the game. And despite me no longer being in the lobby, the game started. I wasn't able to rejoin at any point and my party was forced to /remake due to me not being in game.
