LoL Launcher STILL not opening on MAC

So i've been looking for a solution to this problem and its a little frustrating that I can't find anything posted recently when this problem seems to date back to 2013. I'd really like to play over my winter break but I can't if when I click on the LoL app it just closes immediately. My firewall is definitely not the problem and I've re-installed the game more times than I can remember. Also I don't keep the app on my dock as I've heard that that can create problems. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me.

I've been having problem as well. I stopped playing during school, but now that winter break is here, i really want to play. I've been trying to download 4.21 and I finally had to resort to an ethernet cable (in my own home mind you, not on campus) and it's still not wanting to update. My firewall has always allowed me to play and nothing I do seems to work. Not sure how many times I've reinstalled this game just today... Hoping something magically works or that Riot will fix whatever problem they're having now.

You've pretty much eliminated every way I've fixed this problem on my friend's Macs.

What's your OS version?

OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 I have an Ethernet cable connected at the moment and it's back up to 47%

It's the patch update... and I can't get to a different internet network... I'm at home with no car and a broken foot (unfortunately) and League itself is opening, but the patch is just taking FOREVER and crashes near the end of the update. It started three days ago when I finally touched league after three weeks of doing nothing but studying on my laptop. And everything else is working fine. Macbook Pro 2011.

It's frustrating though because the fresh install took only like, two minutes, and I'm the only one with a Mac in the house, so that's out of the question. it's definitely going faster with this cable, but I'm still worried it's going to crash.

My OS is snow leopard (10.7 or 8 maybe I'm not sure) and when I load league on my gf's PC it works just fine on our home internet so I can't imagine its the network

I'm starting to believe that it has a lot to do with the OSX of Snow Leropard (10.6.8). Thing is, that upgrading to Yosemite is highly NOT recommended by loads of people on the App Store forums, since the Mac itself becomes really slow, and buggy and whatnot… So… Rito pls fix this bug for OSX 10.6.8.
