Mac client unable to join games

Every time I enter a game, the screen goes black like the load screen is about to show up, but the load screen never appears. Usually when this happens, I will wait a couple minutes and reconnect and everything is fine. Recently, I get the same black unresponsive screen every time I try to join a game. My connection is not the problem. This began to happen with the most recent patch.

As a result of this issue I've been afk for the past 2 games I joined because I couldn't connect to them. I now have AFK penalties on my account for reasons that aren't my fault.
